Nazif Mahbub

Nazif Mahbub is a Public Health Professional and a Policy Analyst with more than 5 years of experience. He is currently employed as a Senior Policy Analyst with the Ministry of Health at the Government of Alberta (Alberta Health) in the Health Workforce Division, where he leads/supports policy projects to regulate Health Professionals and provides direction to regulatory colleges in guiding their professional members in Alberta, Canada. He also worked in the Continuing Care Branch and Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction, prior to joining Health Workforce at Alberta Health.

Nazif has a background in policy and public health, with a Masters in Public Health (MPH) specializing in Health Policy and Management from the University of Alberta, Canada. He is a former Physician, and has a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Nazif obtained the designation of ‘Certified Health Executive’ from the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL). The CCHL’s CHE is Canada’s health leadership designation, and the designation recognizes effective leadership in the Canadian health system.

Nazif has experience in implementing and managing public health projects, which he gained through working in several organizations, such as volunteering as a Research & Policy Analyst at the Centre for Research, Innovation, and Development Action, a non-profit in Canada. In addition, he has served the role of Project Manager at a non-profit volunteer organization ‘One Better World’ in Bangladesh. He previously worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Alberta. As a freelancer he worked at Zeno Media, a tech media company for several years. (This was a freelance work through Upwork.com). He was a ‘Rising Talent’ freelancer at Upwork Global Inc. for over four years.

In regards to professional affiliation, Nazif is an elected Fellow (FRSPH) of the Royal Society for Public Health, UK. He is an active member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders. He was a past member of the Canadian Public Health Association and the American Public Health Association.

Nazif co-founded a non-profit volunteer organization called ACTIVE ACTION, through which he promotes professional development, and health and social awareness. He likes to create knowledge translation materials and write articles to promote health and social awareness. Several of his articles were published in different national newspapers in Bangladesh. He is an Official Member of the soccer team Real Madrid CF and the Admin of All White Bangladesh, the official fan club of Real Madrid CF in Bangladesh.
